To support “water-wise” sustainable practices, West Basin continues to provide incentives for those who are ready to create a more sustainable drought-tolerant landscape. The Public Agency Grass Replacement Program offers increased incentives for transforming publicly owned spaces in the West Basin service area.
The program provides:
- Rebate incentives starting at $4 per square foot to remove non-essential grass on public property in the West Basin service area.
- Free professional design assistance to envision a new landscape.
- Rebate application assistance to help secure necessary funding for the project.
Which public agencies are eligible?
Eligible public agencies include “any federal, state, regional, or local government entity, agency or department, including any special district, joint powers authority, city, county, or other political subdivision of the State located within Metropolitan’s service area.”
What type of projects are eligible?
Eligible projects can range from 250 square feet up to 200,000 square feet for a maximum of an $800,000 rebate value. Examples of publicly owned spaces include city-owned landscapes, parks, and schools.
